The boxes and envelopes listed in the two tables show both current and new dimensions. Once supplies with the current dimensions have been depleted, orders for these items will be fulfilled with supplies that have the new dimensions. USPS will continue to fulfill orders for the Expedited Packaging Supplies with the current dimensions while supplies last. The Expedited Packaging Supplies with new dimensions will go into effect in late September 2021. Changing the dimensions will allow the boxes and envelopes to be processed on mail processing equipment more efficiently, increase visibility, and reduce the need for manual package sortation.

After reviewing the Standard and Specialized Packaging, USPS is changing the dimensions of 11 Standard items and three Specialized items. The maximum size for Priority Mail items is 108 inches in combined length and girth (the length of the longest side, plus the distance around its thickest part).
